Graduated from Wageningen Agriculture University with a Master Degree in Animal Production and Poultry Science.

Started working in an Animal husbandry training institute as a teacher in Holland. After that worked for a year in a dairy research centre in Mexico, one year in Yemen in a poultry vocational training centre, 3 years in Indonesia in a centre for training in poultry and small ruminants, 3 years in Colombia in a centre for extension service in Animal Husbandry, 2 years in Hungary for the biggest poultry slaughterhouse in The country, and 5 years for the Dutch Embassy in China responsible for a training an demonstration centre representing over 50 Dutch companies in the animal husbandry sector.

Currently, since 2005 working for De Heus Animal Nutrition as Chief Technical officer in China and as technical advisor for South East Asia.

Beside his professional career he was 14 times national champion of the Netherlands and broke 14 times a national record and was a member of the Olympic team. His 50 km and 100 km race walking records stand over 30 years.
